Dear Judy Blume
Hi Judy Blume! I'm Sylvia.I read your book
`The Pain And The Great One'. It was good and interesting! I heard that this story is about your children. I didn't believe! I want to read more books that you wrote. I think I will like it! The great one was just like my sister and the pain was just like me so I liked it.
I hope to read more books that you wrote!
I've been reading anything and everything of Judy's that I can get my hands on for 25 years! I have now passed a copy of each book onto my son's. When i say a copy, it's because I have doubles just incase one was to get damaged from over use. There were many years throughout my teen years that dissappearing into one of the books was my only happy place. I honestly believe reading 'What kids wish they could tell you' has been vital in the raising of my 5 sons. Judy's books have made me a better mum, wife and person. They are also saved my life, many times over the years and are why I am here today! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there through the publishing of your books when this child/teenager/woman/wife/mum needed something/someone to tell her she was not alone and it would get better x
I just love your fudge series we laugh a lot and find it hilarious. Our class loves the fudge series and we are on the last book. I hope you write more !!!
Grade 4/5, Hope School, Cambodia
Hi Judy! We are reading your books and love them! We have read all of the Fudge books and think they are really funny! We would love you to write more of them. You have helped make our class a very happy one! Thank you and God bless!
I love Judy Blume's books! They are so interesting, and still are to me at my age.
Did u make a book number 2 of forever?
HI Judy Blume!
I totally love your books and you are just an amazing person! Our class is reading the series of peter and fudge and we just love it, we always laugh and smile and... grin lol! hope you keep making awesome fantastic Books! God Bless You!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Judy! I read "Are you there God, it's me Margaret" back in 1979/80. I was in middle school and got it from the school library. I loved it! I remember the book became very popular with girls in our school. My friends and I would say lines from the book and laugh..."we must, we must, we must increase our bust"...while we did the exercise. When word got out about the book, it was pulled from the library shelves. That was my first experience with censorship. I felt disappointed that other girls would not have the opportunity to read the book and understand that the things they were going through were normal, and they were not alone. To this day, this is still one of my favorite books and is a lasting childhood memory that helped me get through some tough times in my adolescence. Thank you for that.
Ms. Blume, I am a teacher at Batton school. It is now a kindergarten through 8th grade school. I cannot express the pride the students feel when I tell them you went to Battin. The neighborhood has changed since you went here. The situations these children face on a daily basis are daunting. If you ever consider writing another book, perhaps it could be about the students now compared when you went to Battin. I wanted to write about this topic but I am not a writer. Thank you for your books. The urban kids enjoy them so much. So do I!
You should write about what it is like to age, at your age now. Teens are curious about what to expect, so are people my age. I often thought I should keep a 'life list' of the ever fascinating changes of aging, including unexpected, small insults starting with skin tags, coase white chin hairs, thinning of the pads of your feet...fun stuff like that.j
I'm so happy that you decided to write another adult book! I can't wait to read it!

Dear Judy, I want to thank you for your children's books. The first time I read Tales of a Forth Grade nothing I was eleven years old, my sister gave to me as Birthday present a collection of five books written by you, it included Tales of a Forth grade nothing, Blubber, Are you there God? It's me Margaret, Then again maybe I won't and Other wise known as Sheila the Great. I loved every minute I sat down to read and made me love books for the first time in my life. When the time came and my children were old enough to read I shared your books with both my son and daughter, and they still have fond memories of them. Now I'm a grandma to an almost 9 year old grandson who just became a big brother two months ago, and just last week I got your special Aniversary edition of Tales of a Forth grade nothing to start reading it with him when he stays with me, he laughs alot with Peter's and Fudge's interactions. So just think how wonderful it is, that your stories are being shared by a third generation!!! Thank you very much for all your wonderful stories!!!!
i love all of your books
Dear Judy Blume,
My name is Logan and I read your book Freckle Juice. I did not like the book because it was boring and it made me mad. It’s not that scary to take a shower so I didn’t understand why Andrew didn’t want to take a shower. Like, I took a shower last night and it wasn’t that bad. I know that Andrew said that taking a shower makes him late for school, but Andrew could wake up at like 5am or he could a take shower after school. Also, I think Andrew is dumb because you can’t grow freckles with juice, and he should know that. Or, he should have had a tester to see what happens when you take the juice. Maybe he should have read the ingredients over and thought, “there is no way I can make freckles with this junk!” He should have known that the recipe was a trick. So, the book was boring and I did not understand why Andrew wanted freckles or wouldn’t take a shower.
Why did you write this book, and why do you write books? I was wondering if you ever wanted freckles and if that is where you got the idea? Also, I was wondering if you like Star Wars, and TV shows? Do you like to draw, and if so how well do you draw? Does your family like your books?
Thanks for reading my letter. Have a great day!
Question - will there be books for sale and will Judy be signing at the BookCon event? Can we get autographs there?
I am writing A book and If I can I will email it to you for advice
Hi Judy, I am a big fan of your books. My 5 older sisters and some of my older brothers also loved reading your books when they were my age.
I'm excited to see that you are coming to Berkeley, my home town.
My mom and I want to invite you for Shabbos dinner. Do you do Shabbos? My parents run the Berkeley Chabad Jewish Center and it would be so cool to have you as a guest. We have lots of guests on Friday night and it's really fun. We make homemade sourdough challah and dips and other goodies.
Please let us know by emailing back to my Mom's email address:/>Looking forward to seeing you in Berkeley.
where did you live during your life. what influenced you to become and auther. what kind of literature did you enjoy.
I know Judy will probably never read this, but I wanted to tell her Thank You. When I was in the 1st grade, my family was going through a horrible time. My mother was absent and my father, my two younger brothers, and myself were living in a tiny trailer in nowhere Texas. My father began reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing to me. It changed my life. I fell in love with Peter and Fudge. It reminded me so much of my younger brothers. It introduced to to both my first narrative, and my story building imagination. I have read nearly every book Ms. Blumenthal has written. To this day she is still my favorite author. My daughter is 4. When she turns 5 I plan to begin her on the same series where I found my love of words.
Even if you never see this,
I wanted you to know you changed my life.
What is your new book that is coming out on June 2nd about and what is the title
We have an author study at our school and I am doing you! I want to know do you think about the six elements of litrauture before you write a book? I love the book Are you there God, Its me Margret! Thanks!
I was in St.Mary's High School when the plane crashed in Elizabeth, N.J. Our school was l block away. My mom was working on the switchboard for N.J.
Bell taking calls from the burning homes. She said all she heard were screams. She kept telling them to jump or run out of the house but they were trapped. My mom heard the screams in her mind for many months afterwards. I reserved your book in large print because of my macular degeneration. I am 7th on the list. Can't wait to read it.
Saw your interview on Sunday morning this am. My heart did a flip when you mentioned the December 16/51 plane crash in Elizabeth NJ. That was my father's plane that went down that day. We were living in Florida at the time and my mother (now 97) was pregnant with my brother, who was born in February 1952. So very strange to hear that somebody remembers this.
Congrats on your new book!
Wanted to let you know that my daughter grew up reading your books and loved them...
As for me, also an Elizabeth , NJ neighbor, i also saw a share of plane crashes but mostly smaller commuters. Do you remember the floating gas tanks iff Florida street?
I experienced a couple there however in the 60's...
I lived at 150 Franklin St in a very mixed neighborhood but truly enjoyed it as Im sure you did as well.
Best of luck to you Judy and would love ti hear back from you when in Miami ( Coral Gables) where I presently live-
Dear Ms. Blume - Just saw you on CBS Sunday Morning. My brother-in-law remembers those crashes and said they occurred because the planes had orders to make turn maneuvers for noise abatement over Elizabeth. To this day planes from Newark Airport do not take off over Elizabeth because of those crashes.
You probably knew this already but I just wanted to share.
Diane Blume Hupcey
(no relation LOL);-)
I just watched your appearance on CBS Sunday Morning! I grew up reading your books! My husband (who is a 38year old Lawyer) still has Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing in his collection of books at our home.
We were even more overjoyed to see that you in live in Key West. It is one of our most favorite places in the world to visit!
Thank you for making our childhood memories even sweeter with your books!
I feel the same way about Hannah the way Peter feels about Fudge,(sometimes).
Dear Judy Blume,
Although I live in Africa, I love Peter and Fudge.

Do you still have breast cancer?
My family lived in Elizabeth NJ for many years. My father, Melville Shapiro, was a reporter for the Elizabeth Daily Journal. He received a journalism award for his coverage of the 3 plane crashes. My brother and father saw the first plane smoking in the sky. I can't wait to read your book and wonder whether you read any of my father's reporting in your research. I think my sister went to school with you (Linda Shapiro). Thank you for the wonderful books that me, my siblings, our children, and grandchildren have loved for so many years...Judith
The first time I read 'Just As Long As We're Together' I was a 12-year-old 7th grader, just like Stephanie. The last time I read it I was a "not even young" 38-year-old, just like Stephanie's mom. I have read this book countless times over the past 28 years, and it is easily my favorite book of all time...it's comforting like an old friend.
I arrived here by clicking through "Conservative" and "Pro-Life" websites to find one that SUPPORTED the choice made by Judy Blume to encourage people to donate to Planned Parenthood on Mother's Day.
I enjoyed Blume's books as a child and, as an adult, now I admire her for standing up for women and helping defend our rights. She obviously understands feminism in a way many people don't appreciate--subtle and courageous, and in charge of their own bodies.
Thank you, Judy Blume.
Dear Judy Blume,
Hello my name is James. I like your book “Tales of a 4th grade Nothing”. Can you please make a sequel? I like the part when Fudge ate a flower. I liked it because Peter tried to eat one too. I disliked it when Dribble died at the end of the story because in my mind he was cute. My favorite character is Fudge because he is the funniest character. I find him funny when he bangs the pots.
I liked it when Peter got the dog (:
P.S Please write back. ( :
Dear Judy Blume,
My name is William M. I like your book “Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing” because Fudge is the only person eating flower and I found it funny. The part of the story I did not like was when Dribble, the turtle, died at the end. I did not like it when fudge ate Dribble the turtle. The character I like the most is Peter because he looks like my friend, Kevin. I don`t Fudge because he ate Dribble. Overall I loved the story and I would read another one.
Thank you for writing this story.
Dear Judy Blume,
My name is Kevin. I liked the book you made “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” because It is very funny. My favorite chapter was “Just a rainy day” because Fudge had puffy legs. The part I disliked the most was when Dribble dies.
The character I liked was Fudge because he plays with socks. I liked it when Peter
got a dog called Turtle because he wanted to remember Dribble.
P.S. Please make a sequel.
Dear Judy Blume ,
I have read almost all the fudge books. Im one of the kids in mrs. kiefabers class and where on super fudge and we read them out of order but we have had so much fun reading your fudge series. BYE
Some of my second graders just read Freckle Juice and loved it. They were wondering if you ever thought about writing Freckle Juice 2. Will Nicky Lane ever get rid of his freckles? Please respond soon. Thank you! 😊
