Hi Mrs. Blume,
My third grade class just finished reading "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and they really enjoyed it. As a writing assignment they wrote you letters telling you their thoughts and favorite parts of the story. Hopefully you will receive them and perhaps even write back. Thankyou for your awesome stories...kids really love them! Grown-ups do too

I loved reading your books as I grew up. Blubber was one of my favorites, mostly because I understood what it was like to be at the receiving end of the bullying. In a way it helped me feel better about the situation I was in, and stand up for myself. Now I am doing a report for my senior year on censorship, and I happened to come across your website and all you had on censorship. It has been a huge help to me, and will probably be a big part of my paper. I'm citing everything, of course, but I was wondering if you had anything new to share? Any new books that have been censored that you have been involved with, things like that.

Also, I wanted to thank you. I don't know what I would have done if my school had started banning books when I was young, and I am so glad that you are there to stick up for others who aren't so lucky.

Hi Judy,
I just finished reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing with my 7 1/2 year old son, Jack tonight. My goodness, it was just as funny and heartwarming as it was when I read it in the 70's! Thank you for the gift of your books. I thoroughly enjoyed my sons reading and laughter as we spent this special time reading and snuggling together. I loved all of your books as a girl and so appreciate your work today. Lots of love and good wishes to you! Thank you xo Kym

hi judy its jack. i havent talked to you in a while so i wanted to tell you my idea. i was thinking that whenever i read books sometimes i quit reading it because the person you like trys to get revenge, fails. for example, i read goosbumps once how to fly jack trys to fly to beat william and try to proove he is better but will flys to and i thought "that make me annoyed forget this book". my point is maybe you could make peter get his way more like the time with fudge loseing his bike because its a possibility your fans could lose interest. trust me i know a lot of people do that and if you do try that dont do it too much. and thats my idea

Amongst the other fawning messages, will add...you are a beacon in the world for young girls. Your books taught me things my uninterested/unconcerned parents never mentioned. I'd have not been expecting a 'period' if I hadn't read it from you! Your empathy, grace and intuitiveness graces the pages you write in an amazing way. I reckon, you've done a greater service to humanity (huwomanity?!) than most who are pegged at doing so. Best wishes forever to you!

I love your Fudge series! They are so funny. I am going to read lots more of your books! When I was reading about How I became an author, I heard that you played the piano and you imagined that you graded people and you taught them how to play the piano. I also play the piano and I love to imagine doing that too! I also loved to read. Thanks for reading!

I LOVED your books when I was growing up. It is so great seeing the responses of a new generation discovering and loving the books I read over and over as a girl to teenager.
My daughter is 3, and I'm looking forward to introducing her to the Judy Blume books I loved. (BTW, I read "Forever" when I was around 10, and I'm not going to have a problem if she does too )

Hello Ms. Blume. I started reading your stories at quite a young age, starting with Freckle Juice as we read it during my second year of school. As I grew on I came to truly admire your books directed towards preteens; I never read them until more recently rather than as a preteen but I truly do admire how someone took such serious subjects for those growing up and placed them into almost adult novels.
I wish to thank you; one of my aspirations is to become a writer, and though a lot of my thanks goes to those of horror novellas such as Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft, a ton more has to go to those from the childhood, and you are definitely on that list, along with your books. I thank you for your books and can only hope generations to come can still be able to enjoy them (if they stop being censored, that is!).

You did a great job on "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing". Our reading class really enjoyed it. Some kids have read it a few times and love even more each time they read it. Even though some books were silly or strange (Dribble). We loved your book! Thank you

Dear Judy,
There's a book that I really want to read. Literally EVERYONE I know is allowed to read it (some of them just don't like to read so they haven't read it). My parents say that it is too violent for me to read. They also say that the other books in the series are too inappropriate for me to read. This makes me really mad, I feel like adults are constantly underestimating what kids can deal with (and read about). Honestly, the real world can be violent. So why can't i read a book that's not even set in modern-day America? I know that this probably doesn't qualify as censorship, but I thought you might have some ideas about what I should do.
Thank you so Much!!
Amelia

Judy, I want you to know that my 5 yr old has discovered the joy of reading chapter books out loud all because of you. I love hearing her laugh like crazy! First we read about Sheila and now we are on Pee-tah and Fudge. I loved you as a kid, but I think she may turn out to be an even bigger fan. She can't wait to read the books on her own. Take care and THANK YOU!
