Dear Judy Blume,
Hi! I¡¦m Kaisha, and I would like to ask you some questions about your book called ¡§Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing¡¨ I myself am in grade four so I really like the book, anyways, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, I¡¦m 9 years old, I live in Alberta, Canada, and I was born in Edmonton. I really love picture books, but your book is really nice too! Anyways, I would like to ask you some questions now, So, my first question is, besides having a toddler swallow a turtle which is really unbelievable!!! I wanted to know what or who else inspired you to write this book?? Did you enjoy reading your book over in the past?? how long has it been since you have written another book?? oh, I also wanted to know if you are planning on another book?? If so what is it going to be called?? Another question about that is if you are planning to make another book, is it going to be about Sheila?? Or is it just going to be about Fudge and Peter?? One more question, are you going to make a new character?? If so, is it a boy or a girl, and what¡¦s their name? Ps. Please write back!! ƒº from, Kaisha

Dear Judy Blume,
I think your first book about the Hatcher family was so humorous. How do get all these funny ideas. Is your life similar to the books you write? Amazingly, my favorite character is Sheila not because she is a little mean, but because she’s pretty funny. Judy, I want to know how old you are? You might have some similaraties with me, my favorite color is turcoise and my favorite food is icecream. P.S what is your hair color?
Sincerely,
Erina A.

Dear Judy,
So Judy, how do you make every chapter of Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing so funny? I have a pretty funny store. Once my brother tried to flick an elastic band at me and did it the wrong way and flicked his self in the eye. I was laughing my head off.

Ps. I love your books!

Judy Blume,
I've read yoour books since I was in 2nd grade and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. You've inspired me wayy beyond beliefe to get through life by writing. I'm doing a project on your book "Forever" and I'm so honored to tell everyone about what you've accomplished. But I really wrote because i have an idea for maybe a next book! About two bestfriends that have known each other forever but one girls mom doesn't think they should be friends because she think's the other girls family is a bad influence... There's alot more than i've thought of but i feel like this message would be too long. (: But if you want to talk more about e-mail me! I'd really LOVE to help you put a new book out to all your fans!
Much Love and Best Wishes, -Maranda

We just got done reading Freckle Juice! We liked it so much that we were inspired to make our own commercials to sell Freckle Juice. Your story is great because it inspires us to write, teaches us not to be a bully, and we learned not to believe everything we hear. We can't wait to read more of your stories! You are a great author!

Girl with an "S"

I just finished reading your book "Deenie." I'm also marked with an "s" like Deenie. I read the book, because I was try to get background info on my diagnoses, but instead of info I got someone I could relate too. Although I was not as lucky as Deenie and have a much more serious case. I'm most likely getting my surgery in the middle of January, as soon as basketball season ends.

Dear Miss Blume,

I've read some of your books and I really really like them. My mom says she used to read them when she was little. My favourite one of all is Freckle Juice but I like Fudge alot. He reminds me of my little sister Lila. Next I'm going to read the other Peter Hatcher one. I think it's called Super Fudge. I hope he doesn't eat any more turtles!

Dear Mrs. Blume,
I have just finished reading Are You There God? It's Me Margaret. For school, we were supposed to choose a book that has been banned, read it, and write a book review. I just wanted to let you know that I loved the book! I think that you included topics in this book that are really important to 6th grade girls. I was wondering what inspired you to write. I know you are very busy and get a lot of letters and emails everyday but I really did love your book and I've read so many of your books! I'm so excited to read even more! Thank you so much!

I am so thankful for having the opportunity to have met you once many years ago at a book fair at my very own elementary school. Your books are some of the very first I fell in love with as a child. I am 39 now and a mother of 1 very fantastic young lady in 8th grade. I am also the Librarian for the school she attends. I am currently reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing to my classes and, as expected, all of the children are eager for every page. Many have asked me to try to reach you and ask if you could visit our school someday to talk about yourself and your writing. I am not sure if you do that sort of thing anymore, but if ever considered, it would be an honor to have you. Thank you for sharing your talent with so many of us children and adults. As I read aloud to my classes, I am rewarded with the same excitement I felt so many years ago as a child when I read your books to myself. In a way, it has provided me with a sense of "forever young" in my mind and heart. With deepest gratitude, I thank you!

Class 314

Our 4th grade class just finished reading Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing - and LOVED it! We were planning on doing a few other different read alouds this year, but the students begged us to read the rest of the Fudge series, so we'll be starting Otherwise Known As Sheila the Great later this week. Ms. Blume, our students have laughed and smiled through so many pages of your wonderful book and we can't wait to create many more great reading memories as a class with the other Fudge books. Today we all wrote you letters and while we know we might not hear back from you, we just wanted to thank you for this amazing book. Best wishes from New York!

Sincerely,
Ms. P, Ms. S & Class 314

Hi Mrs. Bloom,
I remember emailing years ago; your books served as my literary foundation when I was an elementary school student. I wanted to express my gratitude for your works. Through the similarities among your characters and between myself, a rocky childhood, to say the least, made that much more sense. Your books surely positively affected me and I developed an early fondness of books. It was childhood books-turned-memories like yours that jump-started my passion for writing. Your books were a staple in my early life. Children's books have the power to leave a significant mark, though adults have the tendency to dismiss kids because they're "just kids," as was the case for me. All in all, it's been hard times from the get-go but the topics you explored with such relatable characters really did help me cope. If I have my way, I'll have a profession in writing after college. Thank you for instilling in me a passion for expressing feelings through words as opposed to negative actions, something that has never faded, even when the going has gotten rough. I wish you all the best in your fight against cancer and hope all is well with you and your family.

Dear Judy,
You are a great funny, writer! When I read the first Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Fudge inspried me to write about a girl who had an annoying brother. I looooooove Otherwise known as Shelia the Great, (I'm glad your not scared of dogs now!) She seemed so know it all-ish. You are my ro-model . Anyways, I want to be a writer, funny and true, just like you!!
